I am a landscape photographer based in Tamborine Mountain, nestled in the beautiful Scenic Rim. My journey with photography began in 2011 when I picked up a camera to document a year of traveling across Australia and New Zealand, where I also met my wife. After returning to Europe to complete our studies, my camera became a constant companion. My passion grew as I explored and captured the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss/French Alps and the Scottish Highlands. Initially balancing both landscape and wildlife photography, I eventually specialized in landscapes, though I never miss the opportunity to photograph beautiful wildlife when the chance arises.
After completing our studies, we decided to move to Australia, longing for the breathtaking nature of this country and feeling overwhelmed by the city life in Switzerland. Initially settling in Brisbane, I struggled to create art that I was truly proud of. I tried to replicate the work I was accustomed to, focusing on mountains. While Southeast Queensland does have its own mountains, they don’t offer the same opportunities as the Alps.
During the COVID lockdown, I was confined to exploring the forests in our neighborhood. Gradually, I began focusing on tree photography. When restrictions eased, I drove to Lamington National Park—not to capture viewpoints or waterfalls, but to photograph trees. I quickly fell in love with the ancient Antarctic beech trees, some over a thousand years old. This experience was a groundbreaking moment that transformed my photography, shifting my focus to embracing what the landscape had to offer, rather than chasing preconceived images I hoped to capture.
Soon after, we moved to Tamborine Mountain, where I believe we found our place on Earth. Living amidst national parks, surrounded by nature and wildlife, has been a true blessing and has significantly enhanced my photography. Working in the Scenic Rim, my photography has evolved to truly showcase the beauty of the place I call home. From the serene waters of Wyaralong Lake to the majestic peaks of Mount Barney, and the lush rainforests of Lamington and Tamborine Mountain, my work now reflects the essence of this remarkable region.
I strive to capture these fleeting moments, preserving them in timeless images that can be cherished for generations to come.
